Board one of our Bay Hoppers at our West OC location and we’ll take you out to Assateague Island!  The Island’s magical sand and unique environment makes it a special place for breeding bivalve molluscs – otherwise known as clams.

Your captain will have the Bay Hopper equipped with everything you’ll need to harvest the clams.  All you need to bring is a willingness to do a little work and a pair of good feet.  Your captain will show you how to find and collect the clams; this is easy but make the captain feel good and pretend his instructions are amazing.

This clamming adventure is a great option for kids; the waters by Assateague are very shallow and there’s wild horses roaming around!  Clams and horses – what can be better than that!  After the trip, take your haul of bivalves home and make some clam chowder!  Or maybe a little clam sauce over linguini!  The possibilities are endless.   

Aligned with the goal of ensuring all OC Bay Hopper customers have a great experience, we will only run trips that are deemed safe by our Captains. Generally, the weather on the coastal bays of the Ocean City area is very pleasant but sometimes storms and thunderstorms do occur.

In the event that your trip is cancelled, you will receive a full refund. Sometimes, the weather conditions, particularly high winds causing choppy seas, will allow us to run a safe trip that is a bit unpleasant.

Our captains will always strive to let people know when conditions will be less than ideal and if conditions warrant a possible refund you may choose to not take the trip. (But sometimes those rough passages make for the best experiences!)
