Sunday Service on the Bay

There’s a reason people feel closer to God near the water. Sunday Service on the Bay is a peaceful, non-denominational Christian worship experience designed to help you slow down, reflect, and reconnect with your faith surrounded by the beauty of God’s creation.

Join us Sunday mornings aboard the Bay Hopper for a 70-minute Christian church service on the coastal bays featuring Scripture, prayer, worship, encouragement, and meaningful reflection in a relaxed and welcoming setting. No walls. No roof. Just open sky, calm water, and a community gathering together to begin the Lord’s Day with faith, peace, and gratitude.

Whether you’re visiting the beach on vacation and away from your home church, spending the weekend with family, or simply looking to experience church in a more peaceful and unique way, Sunday Service on the Bay offers a refreshing opportunity to worship differently. There’s no dress code, no pressure, and no expectations — just a welcoming environment where everyone can feel comfortable and connected.

As your captain guides you through the Assawoman Bay, you’ll experience breathtaking views of Assateague Island, the Ocean City skyline, and the incredible wildlife that fills these waters — herons, osprey, dolphins, and perhaps even the famous wild ponies. In moments like these, surrounded by the beauty of creation, many find themselves feeling especially close to God.

Sunday Service on the Bay is intentionally non-denominational and open to all. Whether you attend church every week, haven’t been in years, or are simply curious about a different kind of worship experience, you are welcome aboard.

Come as you are. Bring your family, friends, and an open heart. Start your Sunday on the water with faith, fellowship, and peace.

Departure Location, Parking & Boarding — This trip leaves from our Uptown Headquarters (actual address is 11703 Coastal Highway). We are located right next to the Food Lion in a Kiosk labelled "OC Bay Hopper" — you can't miss us. Parking at 118th Street is abundant. Look for OC Bay Hopper flags! You will board from a floating dock, which tends to make it easier to get on the boat.

Departure Time — Please plan to arrive about 5–10 minutes before your trip. If you do not see the boat, please don't worry — we are probably off making memories with another group! Uptown and Downtown locations are staffed by OC Bay Hopper. We typically do not have staff at Ocean Pines Yacht Club or Mid-Town 53rd Street. Our captains are trained to leave ON TIME. If you are running late, you can attempt to contact us but if there are other parties on your trip it is unlikely that we will hold up a trip for you!!!

Bathrooms — Our Bay Hoppers do not have bathrooms onboard. There are available restrooms near all of our locations for use before the trip but we share these facilities with other businesses except Uptown, where the bathroom is inside our Kiosk.

What to Bring — Sunscreen and a camera, snacks and/or drinks for longer trips, and always take into account weather conditions on the water. (Dress in layers if you are not sure!)

Weather — Unless the weather poses a threat to passenger safety (e.g., lightning, high winds) or would make the trip extremely uncomfortable (e.g., heavy rain), the trip will proceed as scheduled. If the captain cancels due to weather, you will be notified and your money refunded. If the conditions are unpleasant but remain safe, we will run the trip. Sometimes if this situation arises we will offer to cancel/reschedule/refund but as long as the trip is safe then our Captains generally want to make this happen!

Trip Minimum — Please be aware that we cannot run this trip if fewer than 4 people book. We will notify you at least one hour (usually earlier the morning of) before departure if the minimum has not been reached and offer a full refund or try to rebook you onto another cruise if you prefer.

Aligned with the goal of ensuring all OC Bay Hopper customers have a great experience, we will only run trips that are deemed safe by our Captains. Generally, the weather on the coastal bays of the Ocean City area is very pleasant but sometimes storms and thunderstorms do occur.

In the event that your trip is cancelled, you will receive a full refund. Sometimes, the weather conditions, particularly high winds causing choppy seas, will allow us to run a safe trip that is a bit unpleasant.

Our captains will always strive to let people know when conditions will be less than ideal and if conditions warrant a possible refund you may choose to not take the trip. (But sometimes those rough passages make for the best experiences!)
